For Part A, we chose Walter Gropius's Gropius House as our building for analysis as we are doing the same building in Project 1 of Architectural Design Studio 2. The board discusses the various components of the building such as the concept, spatial organization, structure and materials, form and external facade. It shows how the house came to be and the reasons behind it.
In Part B, I had to write an essay comparing two Master Architects on a specific topic. As Walter Gropius's Gropius House was chosen in Part A, I just had to compare him to another architect. I chose Frank Lloyd Wright's Robie House and compared how both these architects treat their facade.
At the end of the project, I have learned a lot on how these Master Architects design their buildings and the philosophies behind it. This helped me understand how influential these architects were to the modern day architecture. In Part B, I had to compare Gropius to Wright and this helped me learn more about Frank Lloyd Wright as he has a different style compared to Gropius.
